Baby clothing is adorable. There’s no argument there. I mean your munchkin dressed up in a cute little jumper or a romper is surely a sight worth dying for. But hey, the purpose of baby clothing is not just to look cute.
The main purpose for dressing up your baby is to make sure they’re protected throughout - irrelevant of the weather. Sure, you do want to make your baby look good but that shouldn't be the priority when you’re out shopping out the perfect clothing your child.
The first two things that should be in your mind are.
When you’ve managed to address these two things, sure you can opt for making your baby look adorable in those cloths.
It’s a process, as your baby grows, you learn many things about them. What they like to wear, what they’re comfortable with and what gives them the best comfort. But as you go through this journey, here are a few tips you must keep in mind to dress them up properly in all weather conditions.
A baby won’t like to be inside a layer of cloths during warm weather. So make sure to dress them up in light, breathable fabric made clothes. My advice would be to go for cotton and choose lighter colors.
You don’t want your baby’s skin to be affected by the sun so if your child is younger than 6 months, make sure to dress them up in full sleeves shirts and long pants. Once your baby is older, you can switch to half sleeves only after you have consulted with pediatrician.
Okay, now I would recommend that you absolutely avoid moving your baby in the heat of the day when the sun is at its peak.
But if you absolutely have to do that, make sure you they have a hat on. Not only will it help to protect their face
Make sure to dress up your baby in the same number of layers as you’ve got on in cold weather. And then choose to bring an extra sweater or a blanket if you feel that your baby is getting cold.
Warning - Don’t Overdress
When the temperatures are really cold, don’t give in to the urge to opt for just one super warm garment. Instead, you should be preferring to stick with layers.
Well not only will it more comfortable for you but for you as well because it will be easier to take off a layer when you’re inside and it back on when you’re going out again.
It’s safe to say that when the temperatures are freezing, you have to protect your baby in every way you can. Make them wear a hat, scarf, gloves and socks if you have to. But never and I mean, never compromise on clothing during the winter.
It can be easily said that your baby’s comfort is to be preferred over anything. Just make sure that regardless of the weather, you get cloths that are free of scratchy tags, rough edges, tight headbands or anything that will make them feel uncomfortable. Afterall, your baby’s comfort should be your number one priority.
